Short-term deal for Wolfenden

Oldham Athletic manager Dave Penney has handedMatthew Wolfenden a short-term deal which will give the striker the chance to prove his fitness.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at Boundary Park until the end of August so that he has the opportunity to take a full part in pre-season training.

Injuries restricted Wolfenden to only seven appearances in the season just ended.

Chief executive Alan Hardy told the Latics' official website: "We're delighted Matty has decided to sign this short-term deal.

"This is an opportunity for Matty to show his true value to the new manager during the pre-season games.

"We hope things go well and, if they do, there may be a possibility of offering him a further extension."
