Sheridan mulls keeper battle

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has admitted that there is scrap for the number one jersey at the club after Jan Budtz was brought in on loan last week. After Greg Fleming's sending-off at Leicester two weeks ago Sheridan began a search for a stand-in that only ended 24 hours before the Latics faced Northampton on Saturday. Yet the capture of Danish-born Budtz, for one month from Hartlepool, gives Sheridan the option of leaving Fleming out by choice when Athletic travel to Yeovil on Saturday. "Jan came in and did very well and he will be fighting with Greg Fleming for a place," Sheridan, talking to the Oldham Cronicle, admitted. "It was good of Hartlepool to let us borrow Jan. The lad wanted to come as it was an opportunity for him to play and get some football."
