Royle returns for Supple loan

New Oldham Athletic manager Joe Royle has made his first signing since returning to the Boundary Park hot-seat after bringing in Ipswich goalkeeper Shane Supple on loan.

Royle, who took the managerial reins until the end of the season at the weekend, worked with the the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international during his time as manager of Ipswich.

The 21-year-old has joined the Latics on a month's loan.

"I've always been very impressed with Shane and he was good for me when we worked together at Ipswich," Royle told the club's official website.

"He might not be the biggest of keepers but his spring makes him like a basketball player."
