Penney pleased with solid Latics

Pawel Abbott was the hero with the only goal just before half-time, while Latics goalkeeper Dean Brill produced two fine saves late on to deny substitute Marvin Sordell. Penney said: "It was a massive three points for us and it was pleasing to keep a clean sheet. We did not play too well but experience stood us in good stead. "Thankfully our keeper made a couple of brilliant saves late on. It was the only time Tranmere really breached our defence. "We defended very well when we had to and we certainly had to remain switched on. The win should give us some self-belief. "But we've got to make sure we go on to pick up more points from our games in hand."
