Sky Blues breath more easily
Coventry eased their lingering relegation fears with a 0-0 draw at in-form Oldham.
The Boundary Park stalemate ended a three-match losing streak for the Sky Blues and also extended Oldham's unbeaten run to seven games.
Oldham were the more dangerous side, with an early looping header from Jonson Clarke-Harris forcing visiting goalkeeper Joe Murphy into an agile save.
Clarke-Harris was also denied by the woodwork when his 25-yard free-kick crashed back off the foot of the post.
Danny Philliskirk tested Murphy before Coventry posed their first real threat in the 59th minute as Nathan Eccleston's low drive was saved by Oldham goalkeeper Paul Rachubka.
Oldham should have led moments later when David Worrall crossed to substitute James Dayton, who could only head off target from six yards.
Coventry had another escape after 68 minutes when Cyrus Christie scrambled away Charlie MacDonald's effort with Murphy stranded off his line.
The visitors almost snatched victory against the run of play when John Fleck's powerful run carried him into the box, but his shot was well kept out by Rachubka.
