Oldham Athletic striker Craig Davies may not play again until the end of March after a scan revealed the severity of his hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old Wales international's injury is worse than was first feared and may keep him on the sidelines for up to four weeks.

However, in better news for Latics boss John Sheridan, Stefan Stam has been told he could feature at Port Vale on Saturday after making a rapid recovery from a knee injury.

It had been feared that the 28-year-old Dutchman would be sidelined for up to four weeks after sustaining the knock in the midweek clash with Swindon Town.

However, a scan has revealed Stam suffered only bruising around the knee rather than damage to the cartilage as was first feared.
