Lomax signs new deal

Oldham Athletic defender Kelvin Lomax has been rewarded with a new three-and-a-half year deal tying him to the club until the summer of 2011. The 21-year-old has made six appearances for the Latics this season and news of the deal completes a dramatic turnaround for the youngster, who was dumped on the football scrapheap by former boss Ronnie Moore at the end of the 2005/2006 season. But when John Sheridan replaced him, he offered Lomax the chance to train with the club and he has never looked back since. After being loaned out to Rochdale earlier in the season, rave reviews came out of Spotland after his ten appearances and he impressed significantly in Oldham's majestic FA Cup victory over Everton at Goodison Park last month.
