Latics secure Taylor future

Oldham Athletic have secured the long-term future of Chris Taylor after agreeing a new three-year deal with the highly-rated winger.

Taylor, 20, has played an integral role in the Latics' promotion drive this season leading to speculation that he would be poached by a number of higher division clubs.

However, the speedy winger will now remain at Boundary Park until summer 2010 after putting pen to paper on a new deal.

"I'm really pleased to sign this new deal," he told the club's official website. "As long as the club wanted me, there was no way I was going to leave.

"I come in every morning and everyone's got a smile on their face. It's such a happy place to be and I love it here."

Meanwhile, Oldham boss John Sheridan has signed Coventry City defender Ben Turner on a month's loan in a bid to end a four-game losing run.
