Latics ponder Gregan appeal

Oldham Athletic are considering whether to appeal the red card shown to skipper Sean Gregan during Saturday's 3-3 draw with Hartlepool.

The 34-year-old defender was dismissed with 15 minutes to play following a challenge on Pools' Ritchie Jones.

The Latics held on with ten men for a point which kept them at the top of the League One table and afterwards manager John Sheridan was delighted with the character on display.

"I told the lads afterwards that I could go on about the goals and losing a 2-0 lead, but we showed a lot of character and that's very pleasing," he told the club's official website.

"Even after we had Greegs sent off we could have won the game and I'm very pleased to have got something from it in the end.

"Last year we probably would have folded, but everyone struck together and we got stronger instead."
