Latics opt to release Byfield

Oldham Athletic have released striker Darren Byfield after just four appearances for the club.
Byfield, 32, joined the Latics on a one-month deal at the start of the new season but failed to find the net in three substitute League One appearances for Dave Penney's side.
The arrival of Nick Blackman on loan from Blackburn Rovers last week has prompted Penney to release the experienced frontman.
"We'd like to thank Darren for his efforts while with us," said Penney.
"However, we need to channel our team's resources and the style we play in a different direction."
