Latics look to Thorne
25 Jan 2007 - 12:47:49
Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan wants Norwich City striker Peter Thorne to help fire the Latics into the Championship.
Thorne, 33, has fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road in recent seasons and is seen by Sheridan as the ideal complement to his existing strikeforce of Chris Porter, Paul Warne and Chris Hall.
"I made an enquiry about him but not a lot's happened. He's a player I'd like to bring in if I could because he's not in the team at Norwich," Sheridan told the Manchester Evening News.
"If a player's available and I think he'll do a job, I'll try and get them in. The squad's small and there aren't many options if we get injuries."
Meanwhile, the Latics have been boosted by the news that Will Haining should be fit to face Northampton Town at the weekend despite picking up a neck injury in last Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Bristol City.
