Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has moved quickly to sign Coventry City left-back Stuart Giddings on loan to solve a defensive crisis at Boundary Park.
The 21-year-old moves to the Latics on a one-month deal and could feature in the season opener against Swansea City.
Sheridan was without an established left-back after Stefan Stam and Kelvin Lomax were sidelined by hamstring and groin injuries respectively.
Giddings has made 19 first-team appearances for the Sky Blues.
