Oldham boss John Sheridan is becoming frustrated in his search for an experienced striker after seeing bids for three front men rebuffed.
The Latics have only managed one goal in three League One outings this season - Meheta Molango's in the 1-0 win against Swansea on Saturday - and Sheridan recognises that this is the area of his squad which needs bolstering.
Ideally he would like a player used to operating in the Championship, but is struggling to persuade his targets to drop down a division.
He told the club's official website: "I enquired about three strikers currently at Championship clubs, but I think players are a different breed today.
"They seem all too happy to stay in the reserves and pick up a nice pay cheque rather than playing first-team football.
"I'm not looking to bring kids in - I want an experienced striker at Championship level or above."
