Latics face Porter loss

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan expects to be fending off offers for his in-form striker, Chris Porter, in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has scored eight goals this season for the Latics, having overcome serious knee problems to become a star performer at Boundary Park.

Sheridan said: "He's done very well. He missed a lot of football last season and at the start of this season wasn't fit.

"We were crying out for a goalscorer at that time, so it's good to have him back scoring goals.

"I still don't think he's 100 per cent yet. He missed a lot of pre-season and is not as match sharp as he could be, he's probably 90 per cent.

"Ronnie Moore brought him to the club with high hopes from Bury and he's proving Ronnie's judgement right, and if he can stay fit and play more games, I'm sure a few bigger clubs will start to show an interest in him."
