Oldham Athletic have refused to comment on speculation linking them with a move for Leeds United midfielder Sean Gregan.

Gregan has been told by new Whites boss Dennis Wise that he is not in his first-team plans fuelling rumours that the 32-year-old is set to move to Boundary Park.

Latics boss John Sheridan is keen to strengthen his play-off chasing squad after learning that Stefan Stam will be sidelined for up to eight weeks after damaging ankle ligaments in Saturday's 2-1 victory against Cheltenham Town.

However, a brief statement on the League One side's official website read: "The club would like to reiterate their policy of making no comment surrounding press speculation."
