Latics confirm players were not paid
"they were not paid because of a "cash-flow issue"" The Latics confirmed that their players did not received their wages for February. They issued a statement on the club website which confirmed that they were not paid because of a "cash-flow issue" which would be "resolved within the next three days". Alan Hardy said, "I wouldn't call it an absolute crisis but it's true that the players haven't been paid on Friday. All I can say is this a short-term problem.” He also admitted that the wage situation was a direct effect of the stadium setback. He went on, "The problem has been created by the withdrawal of development investors after Oldham council failed to get permission from the Charity Commission for the swap of the land from trust status at Failsworth. The ground has not been sold, the club has not been sold. It's a fact the club is available to the right people if somebody comes along and wants to take the club forward. A move out of the borough is still a possibility no doubt about it. Whatever we do we've got to get something sorted very quickly otherwise the situation will not improve. We know the situation with the land at Failsworth and what happened to that and the Charity Commission and the ideal scenario is to stay in Oldham but if people can't find us a site suitable then the only alternative is to move out. The fans should be worried - I'm worried. I don't want to see the club in a situation like this, but we're faced with this situation and we've got to try and and do our best to get out of it." The official statement read,"We can confirm that the players wages were not paid on Friday due to a cash flow issue. This is expected to be a short term problem which has been created by the withdrawal of development investors after Oldham Council failed to receive permission from the Charity Commission for the swap of the trust status on the land adjacent to the Lancaster Club. Everything is being done to try and ensure that the players receive their pay as soon as possible which is expected to be within the next three days. We can also confirm that the ground and club have not been sold."
