Latics boss calls for more

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan is refusing to get carried away despite seeing his side top the League One table with Saturday's 1-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers.

The Latics moved to the summit after Reuben Hazell's first-half strike secured their fourth win from five league games this season.

"I'm very pleased with the three points because Tranmere are a good team and this is a very difficult place to come and get anything from," Sheridan told the club's official website.

"Although we were 1-0 up at half time, I wasn't pleased with the performance - in fact I think that was the worst half we've played this season.

"I told the lads they could play much better than that and I was delighted with the response.

"We upped our game in the second half, kept the ball well and created lots of chances."
