Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan has backed injured keeper Les Pogliacomi to eventually return to action.
There had been fears that the 31-year-old Australian's career was over when he had exploratory surgery on his troublesome knee injury earlier this week and was told he will not be able to play again for at least 12 months.
However, Sheridan is backing the shot-stopper to bounce back, telling the Latics' official website: "He's had knee injuries on and off for a few years now, and I know what it's like because I've had them myself.
"The most important thing for Les is that he gets this sorted out first and foremost, because he's got a lot of years ahead of him.
"At the end of the day, he has to think of what's to come and make the right decisions."
