Keeper blow for Latics

Oldham boss John Sheridan is fearful that goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi could be out for up to six weeks after he suffered a knee injury against Port Vale on Tuesday. The Australian shot-stopper, who rejoined the Latics from Blackpool in the summer, had to be helped from the field of play after only eight minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Boundary Park when he landed awkwardly after taking a catch. Young loan keeper Chris Howarth replaced Pogliacomi as the Latics slipped to their second successive defeat at the start of the League One campaign and Sheridan is not hopeful of having him back inside the next month. He told the club's official website: "It looks like Les has tweaked the cartilage in his knee - he's probably going to be out for four to six weeks."
