Oldham Athletic striker Lee Hughes could return to action sooner than was originally anticipated after having a successful double hernia operation earlier this week.
The 31-year-old could even be fit enough to feature in the first team before the end of October.
"The operation went fine, and Lee's now recovering," Latics boss John Sheridan told the club's official website.
"I'm looking to have him back fit as quickly as possibly, and hopefully he can slot back in."
The former West Brom and Coventry City striker has made three appearances for the League One side this term following his release from prison.
