Haining hails Charlton

Oldham Athletic skipper Will Haining has hailed the impact of veteran defender Simon Charlton since his arrival at Boundary Park.

The Latics are currently on the cusp of the play-off places, with Haining impressed by the form of the 34-year-old Charlton, who joined Oldham after leaving Norwich City in the summer.

Haining told The Chronicle: "Simon has made a big difference because he's the first proper left-back we've had for a couple of seasons.

"You can see why he's played at the highest level and it's great to have someone alongside you who knows the game inside out."

Meanwhile, loan striker Lewis Grabban has left Boundary Park after being recalled by Crystal Palace.
