Fresh keeper woe for Latics
23 Aug 2006 - 09:40:09
Oldham boss John Sheridan will look to bring a new goalkeeper to Boundary Park after loan man Chris Howarth picked up an injury during Tuesday's Carling Cup defeat at Rotherham.
Number one keeper Les Pogliacomi faces another month on the sidelines after suffering a knee cartilage injury in the 1-0 defeat at Port Vale earlier this month.
Howarth, who was brought in from Bolton Wanderers as cover, is also facing a spell on the sidelines after being forced to limp out of the 3-1 defeat at Millmoor on 29 minutes having gone to ground following an attempted clearance.
That left reserve keeper Terry Smith as the club's only custodian and he made his first senior appearance for the club.
Afterward Sheridan told the club's official website: "It looks like Chris is going to be out for a couple of weeks.
"If I can get another keeper in, then I will do, but if not Terry [Smith] will play. I'll have a look around and see who's available."
