End of the road for Latics trio

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has decided to release three players following the club's play-off defeat to Blackpool.

Paul Warne, Simon Charlton and Alan Blayney have been told their Boundary Park contracts will not be renewed, and will become free agents next month.

However, Sheridan has offered new deals to Chris Porter, Richie Wellens, Stefan Stam and Paul Edwards.

"This isn't a nice time, but these are decisions I have to make and I feel I've made them for the good of the club," the Latics boss told the club's official website.

"I want to bring in more quality and continue to improve on what's been a fantastic season."
