Defender handed Latics deal

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has offered defender Neal Trotman a new contract to keep him at Boundary Park until next summer.

The player, who was handed a trial at the club last season following his release from Championship side Burnley, was eventually given a contract which was due to expire on October 1.

However, after forcing his way into the first team squad for the last three matches and impressing in the reserves, Trotman has managed to net an extension.
