Defender handed Latics deal
07 Aug 2006 - 15:01:00
Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan has handed young defender Kelvin Lomax a new three-month contract at Boundary Park after was released by former boss Ronnie Moore.
The 19-year-old, who made 12 appearances for the Latics first team during 2004-05, was ruled out for the whole of last season due to injury prompting Moore to release him from the club.
However, Moore departed shortly afterwards to take the Tranmere Rovers job and Lomax was invited back to train with the club by Sheridan.
He has impressed during pre-season and secured the chance to get his career back on track at the club.
Meanwhile, Sheridan has revealed he is set to appeal against Chris Taylor and Neal Eardley's red cards in the 1-0 League One opening day defeat at Tranmere.
He said: "In my opinion both decisions were never sendings-off."
