Allott returns to Latics

Oldham Athletic have re-signed midfielder Mark Allott from Chesterfield five-and-a-half years after he left the club.

The 29-year-old has rejoined the Latics for an undisclosed fee from the Spireites.

Allott becomes manager John Sheridan's sixth signing of the summer after the previous captures of Mark Crossley, John Thompson, Lee Hughes, Jean-Paul Kalala and Craig Davies.

The Manchester-born midfielder made more than 180 appearances for the Latics before leaving in February 2002.
