"I expect Latics to make the play offs and hopefully be playing in the Championship next season" Neal Trotman has extended his loan from Preston and has agreed to remain at Boundary Park until the end of the season. He had been given the option to return to Deepdale but has decided to remain with the Latics and hopes to help in their push for promotion. Trotman joined Preston from the Latics three years ago in a £500,000 transfer but has made only four first-team appearances for them. Other clubs had expressed an interest to sign him but he explained, “I had a look at what they had to offer, but I expect Latics to make the play offs and hopefully be playing in the Championship next season. If I didn't think we had a great chance, I would not have signed. I had to decide whether to go back and be on the bench or have the opportunity to stake a place in the team here.”With Jean-Yves M'voto sustaining an injury against Rochdale Trotman stepped straight into the team and he said, “Hopefully Jean-Yves will be back soon but for the moment it is up to me to stay in the side. It was great to play against Rochdale which was my first game of the season. People were saying I would be rusty but I always prepare for a game as though I am going to play and I was eager to get on. A lot of the players are of a similar age and they have been quality in helping me settle as have the staff. It is also great to be back locally as my mum, dad and family can come to games, something which was difficult when I was on loan at Southampton last season. Preston are a great club as are their fans and I wish them well in their battle against relegation. I am just sorry things didn't work out for me there.”
