Triple trouble for Brentford trip
Midfielder Purdie is recovering from a stomach injury and defender Jacobson is currently troubled by a hernia.
Both men arrived at Boundary Park from Darlington and Bristol Rovers respectively this summer but have yet to feature for the Latics due to their injury problems.
Midfielder Smalley has also yet to play this term due to a back injury, while striker Darren Byfield was this week released by the Latics after failing to earn a long-term contract.
The 32-year-old joined the club on a short-term deal earlier this month and made four appearances, but failed to find the net.
