"It was a special night and something I was very proud to do" Chris Taylor was delighted at being made team captain for the visit of Carlisle United on Tuesday. Taylor has now clocked up over 250 first team appearances for his boyhood team explained the pride that he had after regular captain Reuben Hazell was banned from the game. Taylor said, “It was a special night and something I was very proud to do. I take it seriously and it is something I dreamed of doing as a kid being a Latics fan. And nobody can take it away from me the fact that I have captained the team. I hope the fans come back and see the good football we have been playing this season. We have some very good players and we ought to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season which is much better than the last one when we were battling relegation. The players and management are staying positive and hopefully you will, too, so we can crack on and try and cement a place in the top six.”
