striker pens six month deal

Latics manager Paul Dickov has signed striker Jordan Slew from Blackburn Rovers on a six-month loan. The 19-year-old moved to Ewood Park from Sheffield United for a £1million transfer fee last summer and he played nine matches out on loan to Stevenage last season. Dickov stated that Slew is just the type of player his side needs. He explained, "Jordan will give us a physical presence up front as well as being lightning fast which scares defences. We need somebody with pace to stretch defences as well as scoring goals which Jordan will do. Jordan has a lot of potential and Blackburn regard him highly." Other clubs were interested in signing the youngster but Blackburn wanted Slew to sign for the Boundary Park club. Dickov went on, "They saw how Jason Lowe came on when he came on loan the season before last and also the way we try to play football. We are still looking to add to the squad and it will have to be the right one at the right price. In Jordan, we have got the right one at the right time."
