Sheridan named Spireites manager

The former Republic of Ireland midfielder, 44, returns to management after being sacked as Latics boss in March. He succeeds Lee Richardson, who left the club at the end of last season after failing to lead the Spireites into the League Two play-offs. Sheridan is joined at Saltergate by former Latics coaching colleagues Tommy Wright and Mark Crossley, meaning Richardson's assistant Scott Sellars - and a former team-mate of Sheridan's at Bolton in the mid-90s - leaves the club.
