Sheridan blasts Latics boo-boys

Sheridan's play-off chasers had much the better of a mediocre game but they were continually thwarted by visiting keeper Peter Brezovan - and jeers followed at the final whistle.

The Latics boss said: "I cannot believe the reaction and it is very disappointing the players don't get the credit they deserve.

"We played well in the second half and had lots of opportunities but too many people are on a downer. I'm not happy at all because these players should be praised, they should be told they are doing well because they have kept us around the top six all season.

"We have the fourth lowest budget in the division and it's important for people to realise that fact. Just give them a bit of credit.

"When you look at the table, there are plenty of teams who have spent a lot more than us but who don't have the same points. I get as frustrated as anybody if we don't win but to boo them off when we have played good football and the opposition keeper has made great saves is not on in my opinion."
