retired superstar quashes rumours once and for all Paul Scholes who has just retired from playing for Manchester United has revealed that he considered joining the Latics before he retired from playing. Scholes is 36-year-old and is a lifelong Latics fan, and rumours have been flitting around Boundary Park that one day he would play for the team, a decision which has now been quashed by the superstar.He told Radio Manchester, “Had I still felt great physically then I probably would have played on and Oldham would have been a possibility. The decision I made to retire was just the way I was feeling. If I couldn't go to another club, play well and contribute to another team then I didn't see the point of doing that.”Scholes made 676 appearances for the Reds and will continue to be a regular spectator at Boundary Park.
