Royle delight at Latics return

Royle, who managed the Latics between 1982 and 1994, was appointed as the new boss at Boundary Park until the end of the season, just hours after John Sheridan's exit on Sunday. The 59-year-old has been out of the game for three years following his departure from Ipswich and he told the Manchester Evening News: "I'm absolutely delighted to be returning. "It was 12 fantastic years when we twice went to semi-final replays. In fact it was remarkable that we even got to those games. "I am 59 years of age and still bright and have so much I believe I can offer. "I have been appointed to the end of the season and then let's just see how it goes. But you should never say never in football."
