Rochdale 1-1 Oldham: Report

27 November 2010 21:31
Done deal for Dale Neighbours Rochdale and Oldham shared the spoils after a full-bloodied contest at Spotland ended in a 1-1 draw. Oldham were the stronger team in the first half hour and opened the scoring in the 16th minute when a clever backheel from Oumare Tonkara set up Cedric Evina to curl past Josh Lillis from 20 yards. Rochdale struggled to get into the game but they stepped up a gear after Bobby Grant curled an effort narrowly wide of Dean Brill's post on the half hour mark. Within five minutes the hosts were level. Scott Wiseman's precision pass inside full-back Paul Black sent Nicky Adams scurrying into the area and his low delivery was turned in at the back post by Matt Done. It took a superb block from Jean-Yves M'Voto to prevent Grant handing Dale the lead after he was set up by Wiseman, the Latics defender throwing his body in front of the striker's full-bloodied effort. Rochdale improved after the interval and pressed strongly for the second goal. Grant stumbled on the ball after being set up by Chris O'Grady while Adams' diving header from point blank range was superbly saved by Dean Brill.
