Purdie set to undergo surgery
The summer signing from Darlington has not featured for the Latics in pre-season so far and boss Dave Penney is eager to discover the extent of his injury.
Penney told the club's official website: "Rob is to undergo minor surgery which we hope will help sort out what has been troubling him."
Meanwhile, Wrexham are keen to sign Latics striker Matty Wolfenden after he impressed in two friendlies for the Blue Square Premier side.
Wolfenden is free to leave Boundary Park as he does not feature in Penney's plans.
Wrexham boss Dean Saunders told his club's official website: "He showed what he is capable of and I am sure we will see even more from him."
