Penney thrilled with first Latics win

In their opening League One fixture with Stockport and the Carling Cup defeat to Carlisle, Latics failed to find the net and Penney was pleased to get that monkey off his players' backs. He said: "We scored some goals, which we hadn't done in the previous two games and that always helps. "We were delighted with the performance after changing our shape a little bit. We caused them some problems and scored the goals. "The players got their reward for what they did in the two previous games. Orient had two good away wins and beat Newcastle 6-1 in their last home game so I think everyone was expecting a home win. "We came here and set out our stall. We did not play defensively, although we could have done better with their goal when we should have cleared it. That was our own downfall. But we reacted well, took the game to them and kept the ball very well. I am well pleased with the result."
