Penney: This is still a good point

Oldham wasted the chance to open the scoring when Paul Heffernan's penalty was saved by Scott Shearer, and the Latics were soon punished as John Akinde pounced onto a loose ball after Darryl Flahavan saved from Kevin Betsy.[LNB]But Akinde was then sent off and Oldham took full advantage with Danny Whitaker firing home a 30-yard scorcher on the stroke of half-time. Reuben Hazell headed home Dale Stephens' corner within six minutes of the restart, but Wycombe levelled matters when Scott Davies was brought down by Whitaker and Matt Harrold held his nerve.[LNB]Penney said: "I'm really disappointed that we've come so close to winning the match. We played well and got back into the game after the early setbacks.[LNB]"It was a tale of two penalties. We've missed ours and they have taken theirs at the end. We played some good football on a tricky pitch. It was hard and starting to frost over again.[LNB]"I was not too sure it was 100 per-cent playable but we adapted better. At 2-1 the longer the game went on the more we needed the third goal, especially when Heffernan's shot hit both posts. It's still a good point though and it was important that we didn't get beat heading into Christmas."[LNB][LNB]
