The Latics are now just two points behind Orient, who have now gone seven games without a win after having no answer to goals from Deane Smalley and Dale Stephens.[LNB]Penney said: "We needed that result, there is no doubt about it, because a bit of a gap was opening up between the bottom five and the rest.[LNB]"We were playing a team who are around us in the division and those are the games when it is even more important to take three points.[LNB]"There is still a lot of work to do and we have to be prepared for another big game against Wycombe on Saturday but the early goal helped. We set up another level and played with more confidence - for a long time we have been crying out for the early goal and you could see the difference it made.[LNB]"The players lifted their heads and, although we have played better without winning, it was an excellent performance. Both the goals were very good and their keeper made a few saves but I will settle for 2-0."[LNB][LNB]
