Penney pleased with Latics show

The Latics had dropped to 20th place and were the lowest scorers in League One, but two goals in seven minutes blew away their fellow strugglers.[LNB]Strikers Deane Smalley and Paul Heffernan did the damage, with on-loan Doncaster man Heffernan opening his account for the club.[LNB]Oldham leapfrogged Exeter, who have now suffered a hat-trick of league defeats.[LNB]Penney said: "I am pleased with the performance, pleased with the result and it means we can enjoy our weekend for a change.[LNB]"We had a run of games against sides at the top but now we are playing the teams around us so it is important to pick up points.[LNB]"Deane Smalley's goal was a great finish. He needed that and you could see he was physically lifted afterwards. It is nice to see both centre forwards scoring and I am delighted with our first clean sheet for a while because it will give us self-belief."[LNB][LNB]
