Penney hopeful over friendlies
The Latics have already confirmed home friendlies against Sunderland and Blackpool, along with trips to Macclesfield and non-league duo Hyde and Halifax.
And Penney told the club's official website: "We have one Championship side and another from the Premier League coming to Boundary Park which should be good for our supporters.
"Those two games will be the only ones we have at home and I'm hoping to have another two or three matches confirmed as soon as possible.
"The first few will be reserve games as such, although I'll be bringing the whole first team squad and rotating players as and when required.
"We'll also play a couple of games behind closed doors so we have a bit more flexibility to mix things up and bring players on and off when we want. It's all coming together but we won't be rushing into anything."
