Owls hold Latics

Sheffield Wednesday halted a four-match losing streak as they played out an uninspiring goalless draw with Oldham at Hillsborough. Chances were at a premium for both teams throughout, and while Wednesday enjoyed the better of the possession in the first half, it was the Latics who went closest to scoring when Dean Furman volleyed just wide . The Owls were also forced to take off Tommy Spurr after the full-back suffered a head injury in the 30th minute. Clinton Morrison had half a shout for a penalty in the first half, but it wasn't until the second period that Wednesday had a shot of note. Giles Coke was just off target with a rare strike on the edge of the box, while Gary Teale fired over. At the other end Chris Taylor had a late chance to win it for Oldham but shot inches wide of Nicky Weaver's goal.
