Wesolowski misses family showdown

Oldham boss Lee Johnson will be without captain James Wesolowski as he prepares to take on Yeovil and father Gary at Boundary Park.

Family loyalties will be placed to one side as Latics search for points to preserve their npower League One status, while Johnson Snr is chasing automatic promotion with the Glovers.

Wesolowski was absent as his team-mates battled to a vital 1-0 win over Greater Manchester neighbours Bury at the weekend due to a slight tear to his medial knee ligament.

The midfielder has undergone a painkilling injection and, although Tuesday night comes too soon, he may play again this term.

Johnson told Oldham's official website: "James won't be ready for Tuesday, but possibly could be for Saturday or he could be out for the season. We will have to see how it settles."

Norwich loanee Korey Smith has extended his spell until the end of the campaign and is expected to continue in central midfield in Wesolowski's absence.

Experienced defender Cliff Byrne should be fit once more following a groin problem, but young striker Dan Taylor (knee) will not play again this season.

Johnson Snr will be forced into one change to his starting line-up.

Dan Burn is suspended for his late red card in the 2-0 victory over Stevenage on Saturday so Richard Hinds could step into the Glovers' defence.

Johnson has a number of other slight concerns for what is sure to be a memorable evening for their family.

"We won't know the team news until Tuesday," he told Press Association Sport. "There are a couple with a few sniffles and knocks and we have to put out the best team that we possibly can to win the game."

Third-placed Yeovil, who have already secured a play-off place, head north knowing three points would leave them just two behind the automatic promotion places with two games remaining.

"If we are going to try to reach maximum points then we need to win our last three games and if we do get the 83 points then we are waiting for others to slip up," he added.

Striker Jordan Cook is still with Charlton receiving treatment for his injury and will once again miss out.
