Latics low on numbers

Oldham's numbers have been depleted by the departures of striker Adam Rooney and winger Mike Petrasso ahead of their clash with Peterborough.

Rooney had his contract at Boundary Park, which still had 18 months left, mutually terminated in order for him to facilitate a move to Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen on Thursday.

Winger Petrasso, meanwhile, is back with QPR at the end of his loan spell so David Worrall, who has been struggling with a groin problem, could be considered for Lee Johnson's starting XI.

Midfielder Anton Rodgers (knee) and full-back Carl Winchester (groin) have picked up knocks while central defender Edijs Joksts (back) is definitely out.

Michael Bostwick and Tommy Rowe could return to the Peterborough squad.

Defender Bostwick missed the thrilling 4-3 home win over Notts County in midweek with a knock while skipper Rowe has sat out the last two matches with a thigh problem. Both players will train on Friday and will be available for selection if they come through it without suffering any ill-effects.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson hinted at his pre-match press conference on Thursday that full-back Craig Alcock would start against the Latics after his performance as a half-time substitute on Tuesday night.

Ferguson must decide whether to recall the recently-dropped Rob Olejnik in goal after his replacement Joe Day also made mistakes against Notts County.
