Kelly keen to cause upset

Darren Kelly has indicated he will make changes for Oldham's Capital One Cup clash with Middlesbrough but has still set his sights on causing an upset.

Latics started their League One campaign with a 1-1 draw at Walsall, with substitute Jonathan Forte grabbing an 83rd-minute equaliser.

Forte is one of a number of players pushing to start, and Kelly said: "There will be a couple of changes. We have a strong, fully fit squad so we can make a few changes. We want to go out and win the game, there is no doubt about that."

In a further boost, Boro have given Oldham permission to play defender Jonathan Burn, although he may not be involved. "He only played 20-odd games last season in the Under-21 league so he might not be used to the midweek games and we have a lot of games coming up so it's important we look after him," Kelly added.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has no new injury concerns and vowed to name his "strongest possible" line-up.

However, Karanka had previously indicated after his side's goalless draw at Preston on Sunday that he would make a number of changes to his side.

Defender Dael Fry is expected to keep his place in defence after the 17-year-old produced an impressive performance deputising for the injured Ben Gibson.

And new signings Diego Fabbrini and Christian Stuani - both of whom came off the bench at Deepdale - can expect to be handed their first competitive starts.
