Oldham ready for return to action

Oldham will attempt to move on from the most tumultuous week in their entire history when Doncaster visit SportsDirect.com Park.

Latics confirmed they were ending their drawn-out pursuit of striker Ched Evans on Thursday when they announced they would not be signing the convicted rapist.

Before the Evans saga, captain Liam Kelly's hamstring injury was boss Lee Johnson's biggest headache, but the midfielder has trained this week and will be in the squad.

Loanees Daniel Johnson and Paddy Kenny are back at their respective parent clubs, while club captain Adam Lockwood (knee) and Rhys Turner (hamstring) are still three weeks away.

Doncaster boss Paul Dickov must face his former club without Dean Furman.

Furman is away with South Africa for the Africa Cup of Nations so Dickov, Oldham manager between June 2010 and February 2013, will be forced into making a change in midfield.

Signing Andy Butler on a permanent deal and extending Sam Johnstone's loan spell from Manchester United this week means changes are unnecessary, and unlikely, at the back for Rovers.

Dickov has the fit again Kyle Bennett and Nathan Tyson, who both returned form injury against Bristol City in the FA Cup last Saturday, Harry Middleton and Curtis Main pushing for places in his starting line-up.
