Latics monitoring Smith

Oldham will assess captain Korey Smith's knee injury prior to Crawley's visit to Boundary Park.

A previous problem has flared up for the central midfielder and Latics are prepared to hold him out of training if it helps him play a part this weekend.

Boss Lee Johnson is short on midfield options anyway with Anton Rogers (knee) already out and John Paul Kissock (hip) picking up a problem in the recent home loss to Rotherham.

Central defender Genseric Kusunga (thigh) remains on the sidelines while Johnson faces a dilemma over who to pick in goal after dropping Mark Oxley for Paul Rachubka last weekend.

Crawley will check on Rory Fallon.

The New Zealand striker has missed the last two matches after picking up a heel problem.

Manager John Gregory ditched his recent squad rotation policy in midweek by naming an unchanged team and was rewarded with a shock 2-1 win over leaders Wolves.

Gregory has no new injury concerns but must decide whether some of his players can manage three games in a week so the likes of Jamie Proctor, Sergio Torres, Gary Dicker and Paul Connolly are waiting in the wings.
