Wesolowski blow for Latics

Midfielder James Wesolowski will be missing when Oldham entertain Colchester at Boundary Park.

The Australian could miss up to five weeks after fracturing a cheekbone in Latics' 4-1 FA Cup win over Mansfield - a result which ensures they face Liverpool at Anfield next.

Manager Lee Johnson admits it has left his squad looking thin ahead of the hectic Christmas period with striker Charlie MacDonald (thigh) and defender Edijs Joksts (back) still missing and Jonson Clarke-Harris serving a one-match ban after accruing five yellow cards.

However, both David Mellor and Kirk Millar overcame doubts to be part of the win over the Stags and Johnson's men are buoyed by a run which has seen them avoid defeat in normal time in their last nine home games.

Sanchez Watt will provide a timely boost to Colchester's ranks ahead of the trip.

The winger, signed from Arsenal over the summer, has not featured since the end of August due to a thigh injury, but he is now back to full fitness and likely to be named on the bench at Boundary Park as he builds up his match sharpness going into the hectic festive period.

Captain Brian Wilson also returns to the fold having missed last weekend's desperately disappointing 4-0 home defeat to Notts County through suspension.

However, Freddie Sears, Gavin Massey, Marcus Bean (all hamstring), Josh Thompson (ankle) and Drey Wright (knee) remain sidelined.
