Lanzoni out for Latics

Oldham will be without Italian defender Matteo Lanzoni for their Sky Bet League Two clash with Carlisle.

The 25-year-old has yet to feature this month due to a hamstring strain and boss Lee Johnson revealed that he has returned to his native Italy to see a specialist.

There is better news elsewhere across the back four for Johnson, though, as Genseric Kusunga and James Tarkowski will be available despite concerns.

Kusunga came off with cramp in the 2-0 win over Preston in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last week but Johnson attributed that to a lack of match fitness, while Tarkowski has been back in training following a bout of illness.

Carlisle striker Lee Miller is hoping to return to contention for the game.

The 30-year-old has missed the last three matches due to a calf injury but is back in full training and could play some part, while fellow forward Mark Beck is also in the frame following international duty with Scotland Under-21s.

Striker Nathan Eccleston, on loan from Blackpool, made his first full appearance for the club in the recent Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Morecambe and is expected to make his league debut.

Manager Graham Kavanagh has no new injury or suspension problems as he bids to extend his five-game unbeaten run since replacing Greg Abbott at the helm.
