Latics hammer Pools Oldham showed their play-off credentials with an emphatic home 4-0 win against Hartlepool. Paul Dickov's side had far too much quality for the visitors, who folded tamely and could have lost by an even bigger margin. Oldham went ahead after just seven minutes as Aidan White found the roof of the net from six yards after Oumare Tounkara's initial shot was saved by Scott Flinders. Hartlepool's first chance came on 39 minutes when Sam Collins headed just wide but Oldham doubled their lead just after half-time. Hartlepool defender Peter Hartley lost possession trying to play a back pass and, after Filipe Morais was denied by a goalline clearance, Chris Taylor drilled in from eight yards. Full-back Cedric Evina bagged Oldham's third on 69 minutes, hammering home an explosive angled shot after being picked up by Dale Stephens. Substitute Reuben Reid had the last word when he notched his first Oldham goal with a close range header from Evina's cross.
